The “Pompilio Bonvicini” Archaeological Museum is located in the former convent of San Francesco, in the historical center of Falerone, and collects the archaeological evidence of the territory of Falerone from Picene to the Medieval times. The museum, whose layout was redesigned in 2004 by the Archaeological Superintendence of the Marche in collaboration with the Municipality of Falerone, is organized in teaching key. The museum path, which follows chronological order, begins with the section dedicated to the Picene testimonies of the earliest human presence in the territory where subsequently the Roman city of Falerio Picenus was to rise. It then proceeds to the exhibition of finds from the Roman Age, the true fulcrum of the Museum, which is divided into two sections, one dedicated to the finds in the necropolis, the other dedicated to aspects of daily life and to the finds recovered during the excavation campaigns at the archaeological park. For the Roman era, mention should be made of the Imperial Age female statues associated with the goddess Ceres from the theater area, as well as the rich epigraphic collection that has helped clarify various aspects of the history of the Roman city. Finally, the last part of the Museum is dedicated to finds dating to Medieval times.
