The Cingoli State Archaeological Museum is located in the semi-basement and on the ground floor of the municipal building. The layout is organized according to chronological criteria over four sections covering the period between the Paleolithic and the Roman Imperial ages. The tour begins with the section devoted to Prehistory including some of the oldest lithic finds from the Marche region, originating in areas neighboring the Musone and Rudielle Rivers, and continues with the Bronze Age with finds from the excavations carried out at Piano di Fonte Marcosa between the mid-1980s and the early 2000s, a site that has been uninterruptedly frequented since the Roman Age. The finds displayed for this period are numerous, notably including those made of bone and deer antler. The exhibit continues with sections dedicated to the Iron Age, romanization and the Roman era. Very interesting are the finds from the site of San Vittore, dating from the 6th to the 4th centuries BC and referable to a sanctuary connected with a water cult, as well as those from Borgo San Lorenzo, where the remnants of the ancient Cingulum municipium are still visible. The museum includes a large collection of coins dating from the late Republican era to Imperial times and a lapidarium with inscriptions referencing the Roman city.
